Sirens behind them, the sun in front. She leans into the turn; he holds on and never once looks back. Some people run from the city. They run through it.
Chapter III
The Promise
Under the VICE 6 billboard at golden hour, she pulls him close. No vows, no rings. Just a promise whispered into soft yellow fur: wherever this road goes, we go together.
Chapter IV
The Job
Tactical black, a sky full of money, one last job before sunrise. She takes the lead. He takes her back. Partners in crime is just another way of saying partners.
Chapter V
The City Watches
From above, Pokécity glows purple and pink, a searchlight sweeping the bay. Somewhere down there, two hearts are moving faster than the helicopters.
Chapter VI
After Midnight
The city never sleeps. She finally does, window open to the neon, her partner in crime curled up beside her. Tomorrow can wait.
